Young InnoPreneurs works with schools, youth organizations, families, mentors, funders, and civic partners. We design programs so young people can learn, create, and be heard within clear safeguarding, consent, privacy, accessibility, and data-use expectations.
Our core commitments
These principles apply across Innovation Cohorts, the Youth Voice & Innovation Insights Lab, the Changemaker Challenge, and partner-hosted activities.
Safeguarding first
Clear adult-youth boundaries, supervision expectations, approved communication channels, and defined incident-response pathways.
Informed participation
Consent, youth assent when appropriate, media permissions, and clear expectations should match the activity, age group, and partner setting.
Minimum necessary data
We collect only what is needed for the agreed learning, safeguarding, evaluation, or insight purpose and limit access to authorized roles.
Responsible youth voice
Youth voice should be gathered responsibly, interpreted carefully, validated where appropriate, and connected to visible follow-through.
Safeguarding in practice
Before a program launches, YIP and the host partner should clarify who is responsible for supervision, screening or site clearances, emergency procedures, communication channels, participant forms, transportation where relevant, and incident escalation.
Required screening and clearances are completed according to the role, site, and partner requirements before on-site participation.

Privacy & data principles
We do not sell participant data.
We aim to collect only information needed for an agreed purpose, limit access, use aggregate or de-identified reporting when appropriate, and avoid publishing identifiable youth information without appropriate permission.
Retention, deletion, data-sharing, and access expectations should be defined for each substantive engagement and aligned with partner requirements.

The Lab is designed around a responsible insight-to-action cycle: Listen → Learn → Build → Report → Follow Through.
